Shopaholic or Economic Growth
Last evening, I was browsing journals on Education History and was so tempted to purchase a few articles that would cost me hundreds of Singapore dollars. There I was, contemplating whether to proceed or abandon the idea.
Ironically, I never had an issue buying goods, especially clothes and bags. Hence, I question why I hesitate to purchase quality articles when I never hesitate to buy a top. In fact, I always convince myself that buying is one way to elevate the economy. So to sustain a booming economy, I should spend to support local businesses.
I wonder if others have the same issue as I do, only spending on attire but being rigid when it comes to books. It is so frustrating because I am not this kind of person before and to see myself changed due to fashion trends and social media pressures is a kind of defeat.
Therefore, I will add to my new year's resolutions not only to tadabbur (reflection on Quranic verses) and tahsin (improvise) my prayer but also to be more academia-centric and to spend less on unnecessary items. I hope all will go well. Ciao ciao.
Signing off,
Aiza
