RAMADAN, THE BLESSING MONTH
A holy month filled with agony. We all know and have become insensitive to Gaza, Syria and many others affected countries by war that have been ignored by some humanitarians who show bias.
As far as many are concerned, Gaza has been bombarded and raped, be it the soil and her dignity. Regardless of the relentless activist campaign and marching, Gaza is never free from abuse and has been looted in many ways.
I am embarrassed for myself when thinking of Gaza. There is nothing I can do to help the orphans, widows, and refugees there. I remember my lost Syrian friend who had sought refuge in Malaysia. Although he was scammed, extorted by immigration officers, and faced shame in a relationship, these challenges, or musibah, did not stop him from striving to be his best. What I learned from his story is that there are refugees like him who are hard-working people, trustworthy (amanah) and have a strong will for a better life.
During this Ramadan, I hope I can be a better Muslim, be more empathetic and share the sorrow of the people of Gaza and others in wars and conflicts. I am a sinner and not a righteous Muslim, but I strive to show that Muslims are kind and hard-working individuals. Muslims are human too and we have dreams as well. Our religion is Islam, Islam is the truth, and truth always prevails.
May Allah s.w.t ease all human (kind people) affairs and protect Gaza and her people from attacks. May Allah guide us all, especially during this blessing month. Allahumma amiin.
